Anthony pleaded guilty
NBA player Carmelo Anthony pleaded guilty today in a Denver court to a charge of driving while ability-impaired, reports People.com.On April 14, Denver police spotted Anthony weaving on an interstate highway. After being stopped by officers, he failed a series of sobriety tests and was arrested.The Denver Nuggets forward was initially charged with driving while under the influence, but prosecutors dropped that charge for the lesser one. He also pleaded guilty to failure to stay in a single lane.Anthony was sentenced to a year of probation, 24 hours of community service and $1,000 in fines and court costs. The Nuggets suspended Anthony for two games because of the DUI arrest."I'm happy that it's over so I get a chance to take care of my business," said the 24-year-old basketball star.Anthony is a two-time NBA All-Star and a member of the U.S. team for the upcoming Olympics in China. In court, he was accompanied by his fiancée, MTV veejay LaLa Vazquez, with whom he has a 1-year-old son.
