Default Why did Big Brown lose the Triple Crown?

Big Brown was the odds all favorite to be the winner past Sunday. With all the hype, it wasn't a question of "if he would win..." rather "by how much?" Big Brown would win. The one horse that actually had a chance to beat him had been scratched the day before thus making it an even surer win for Big Brown. Bidding to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978, Big Brown sat in third for most of the race but had nothing left at the top of the stretch and finished last in the nine-horse field. Jockey Kent Desormeaux, who pulled up the previously undefeated Big Brown in mid-stretch, offered no excuses"He was keen to go on early," said Desormeaux. "He broke so hard. I got him out early and he just cantered down the backside."A couple of times he thought it was time to go and jumped into the bridle. But I had no horse. He's the best horse I've ever been on so I took care of him."It was hot as hell out there. There were no popped tires. He was just out of gas." Kentucky-bred Big Brown had won all five of his previous races by a combined 39 lengths and had beaten Da' Tara by 23 lengths at the Florida Derby.Da' Tara, a Nick Zito-trained colt winning for just the second time in eight starts, paid $79 for a $2 win ticket as the horse with the highest odds on the board. The Kentucky-bred entered the race with earnings of just $64,000 but earned a $600,000 paycheck for the Belmont victory. "I was watching Big Brown," said Zito, also the trainer of Anak Nakal. "Obviously, he wasn't Big Brown." Not only did Big Brown lose, but he finished dead last. There is alot of speculation on why he lost, post your opinions here.

Default Big Brown did a big brown on the track ?

I like how UPS sponsored the Big Brown horse. I find it ironic that the horse was late, just like the UPS company and Big Brown is a loser just like UPS to Fedex.

I bet the owner and the trainer did a big brown in their underwear after the race.

Default Glue Factory or Mc Donalds?

So what is the future of Big Brown? Is he going to race again? Will he be sent to the glue factory?

Default What a simple question

Big Brown did not win because he was not the first horse to cross the finish line.I think it was the creaked heal just patched a couple of days before race. When asked to run to catch leaders the pain in his foot was too much and he just could not perform as he has in all his other races.I f it was not such an important race Big Brown would not have raced. There was not enough time for his heal to mend and when he pulled up you could see he was not putting his weigh on that foot as much.
