Drinking Buddies Classified Ad
SOUTHAMPTON, England, April 24 (UPI) - An elderly British man said he's chosen two drinking buddies after his son put an ad in the paper seeking someone to join him at the pub.Jack Hammond, 88, a former doctor and soldier, has chosen two men out of hordes of hopeful drinking companions to join him at the pub several evenings each week, The Times of London reported.Hammond's son decided to run the ad after his father moved into a long-term care facility with mostly female residents.Hammond said he hopes to talk about current events and army history with former kitchen fitter Trevor Pugh, 78, and retired doctor Henry Rosenvinge, 58."I think they are very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to continuing going down the pub with both of them," Hammond said.The men were offered about $14 an hour to join Hammond at the pub, but Rosenvinge said he doesn't want the money."I'm looking forward to coming down here with him for a number of months or even years," he said.
I think somone should register drunkbuddies.com or another drinking matchmaker service for hetrosexual alcoholics. Don't you think there's always a bunch of old guys at a bar anyways that he could just sit next to? This was a waste of money placing an ad.
