A gunman killed 9 people at a college in Finland on Tuesday before shooting and wounding himself, officials said. The shootings began just before 11 a.m. local time as about 150 students went to class in Kauhajoki, 180 miles northwest of Helsinki. Witnesses said panic broke out as a hooded gunman entered the school and opened fire.

There has got to be some kind of reason why college students and students in general are acting like this.

Yes, there might be something mentally wrong with them but something had to have happened to have this kind of reaction.

College life isn't all that great for many students. Maybe they couldn't cope with the stress or something.

I hope this problem is being studied.

It seems that the guy doing the shooting was questioned by the police just a day or so before, regarding a violent video he made of himself with his gun which he posted on You Tube.

The police authorities are going over the interview details again, as people are looking for someone to blame. The police could not have forseen what this mad man was going to do, unfortunately he took the lives of innocent people. I just don-t knnow what gets into these people and why they feel justified into taking these actions.

I tend to agree that something seems to be causing this trend. And its not a local one either. Its occurring in colleges all around the world.

This is becoming far to common in colleges and high schools. There has been quite a few things done to try and prevent this type of tragedy but obviously more needs to be done.

I believe kids are more and more violent due to the video games they play and the movies they watch

If you grow up on that stuff, that is how you are going to deal with problems when they arise

This is really an unfortunate thing.If he wants to die he has to die alone without taking others with him.This type of gun culture is not acceptable.

People won't like this answer, I'm sure, but it's the decline of the family. Young people just don't have the support they used to with a close family, and the pressure these days is worse than ever. Our society is ill, and unless people really start to acknowledge that and try to fix it, beginning with their own personal world, things like this are just going to continue.
