Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California's November ballot initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage.

Trevor Neilson, Pitt's political and philanthropic adviser, told The Associated Press that Pitt was surprised that his colleagues in the entertainment industry had not donated more money to support the battle against Proposition 8.

Earlier in the week, Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced they donated $2 million to help fight HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia.

frankly I don't think its anyone's right to ban any type of living arrangement between people. These control freaks need to be taught that this type of behavior is not acceptable by those of us with common sense.

In this situation each individual has the right to live in their own style.We cannot neglect them just because their style of living is different from us.

People have the right to be straight, why wouldnt they have a right to be gay, straight people marry so gay people should too. To each his own, but i didnt know brad pit was interested in that stuff, and 100,000 dollars, thats it, he got more for the pics of his kids.

I don`t really think Brad Pitt needs any media attention. He gets a lot already. Maybe he really believes in this .

true if you are an ordinary person, and you do something good, you never get noticed, i think if you donate 60,000 dollars to a charity or good cause you are a hero. celebs that do that stuff, let the media know that they are doing so they get the media attention, and that makes them more money. just like britney spears, she stopped letting the paparazzi know where she was or what she was doing, and now they dont catch her doing self incriminating things, she gets positive feedback now and has her career back on track, not to change the subject but most of the things celebs do are for publicity. maybe brad did the same, who knows, or he could have done it b/c it was for something he actually supports.
