Stingrays Are Dying In Zoo
Another stingray has died at the Calgary Zoo as zoo officials say visitor tampering doesn't appear to have led to the deaths of the 35 creatures. Maybe the ghost of Steve Irvin is getting revenge on these creatures from the dead. Late yesterday morning, a 35th cownose ray succumbed to a mysterious condition that first struck them in the petting tank on Sunday, said zoo conservation director Cathy Gaviller.Eight remain and given the trauma all had suffered, "they're certainly not out of the woods yet," she said. But Gaviller said two others have begun accepting food from their keepers. There's no reason to believe visitors intentionally poisoned the rays, which have been on display since February, she said.
