Nintendo, the company that makes the WII and the newly popular Wii Fit, sucks, is retarded, (fill in any insult here). For the past two Christmases, the WIIs have been completely sold out...thus creating this underworld of ebay bids and craigslist scams with overpriced units. It has been over three wiiks now and I still can not get a Wii Fit. When I go to my local Best Buy or EB games store, they tell me..."Oh we got 6 in yesterday", maybe next week. Is Nintendo throttling the release of these units to create more buzz? I am utterly pissed off at the fact that I want to spend $100 (during this shitty recession) and I have stopped at different stores at least 8 times now. It is utterly pathetic on my part and theirs. TO ME, IN MY OPINION, why not do these video game releases or product rollouts like movie premieres....the opening wiikend sell 100 million units all at once. That's a HUGE newsstory that will get circulated all over the world. Why can't Nintendo do it that way? THAT would create alot more buzz AND would be better for shareholders, instead of this petty, shameless and frustrating system they do now. THEN companies could compete just like Iron Man the movie tried to beat Spiderman's opening weekend movie release. So right about now, I do not even want a Wii Fit. Screw them.
I saw Mario Kart for Wii in the store once when it first came out. I haven't found it again in over a month. You are right, this seems like a stupid business model. Why not wait until they have enough units to meet demand before releasing?
Not really. I can see how you guys would be frustrated, but you can't say that Nintedo has a bad bvuisness plan. They are probably making SHIT LOADS of money off of how they are selling their merchandise right now.
Hi, Nintendo paid me to answer you, so please stop talking bad about my lord and master.
The Wii Fit sold hundreds of thousands of copies in its first week. According to VGchartz, it was 729,598. So obviously, Nintendo was well equipped for the launch. Unfortuantely, the demand for the game was higher than that. The problem with making millions of copies of a game for a launch is the risk that the game doesn't take off, and those copies stay on the shelves losing money for everyone. There is no way to predict the actual demand for a product. Nintendo produced A LOT, and they A LOT sold out.
That being said, I understand your struggle. The only thing you can do is just keep checking and hopefully find a copy. You might want to limit your driving and gas losses by calling ahead. Walmart.com allows you to check the stock of local stores - but you have to go early in the day to get in demand items like this. You can call Gamestop and have them check all the local stores (my town has THIRTY) to see if they have it. Gamecrazy always seems to have the sought after titles in my town, if you have one, check it. Get an early start on a Sunday and you might have some luck. I am sorry for your frustration, but if you want the game, you have to keep trying. You can always save your $100 and wait until the game is more widely available.
Nintendo is suppose to be able to predict how popular a device will be, and make the exact number of copies to fulfill complete demand.
Or
Once they realize how popular a device is they should produce an impossible amount to immediately fulfill current demands.
Remember they are producing these boards for everyone in the world, not just america...with how weak our dollar is i'm suprised they are sending as many as they are here
My husband and I coveted the Wii for the whole Wii Fit thing plus the kids could play their games. Well, we finally got a friend to let us test drive the thing, not 5 minutes at the store, but a whole weekend. What an eye opener. It gets old really fast. It's cheap plastic is made for tiny oriental feet and childrens' hands, they just aren't quality for a system that touts how innovative it is. Thank goodness they are so scarce, it gives people like us a chance to do a little homework and not be so impulsive for once. I was shocked that my husband uttered that he didn't want one: Cheap looking low resolution graphics, a rather lame fitness regimine that could be accomplished with a pilates matt and a good CD of music, cheap construction, and the totally ridiculous scam culture surrounding the resale of these units. Nintendo couldn't GIVE us one these toys! Save your money. Our friends are unhappy with their Wii and want to sell it on ebay. The other big game makers will make neato controllers too someday. In the meantime, we'll stick with old fashioned fitness and good walks.
It sounds like you are the one who has the issue not Nintendo. They completely sell out of their products over sand over, to me that seems like pretty good business. You getting so worked up because you can't buy a video game seems to show who has the real issues.
