My grandmother ( I will call her gam gams throughout the rest of the post)) who was born in 1943 grew up in Savannah Georgia . During that time She has been through a lot of things and most of the time her family blamed the "man" for bringing them and the black community down. Present day my gam gams does not really trust a white person that much and now she says stuff that may constitute as racism. Can you really blame her?

At my predominantly white school in Pittsford ( CNN top 100 places to live) I am known as the black dude. I usually say some black jokes but I never say any white jokes unless I say "It's just another way the white man brings us black folks down." and i get the giggles from that. This one girl called me racist one day but one of my friends backed me up by saying "He can't be racist! He's Black!" Is this true can I or any other black person really be racist?

Anyone can be racist. Black people can be racist against Asians, Jews, Latinos, Indians, white people, or anyone else. Just because you are an oppressed minority doesn't mean that you can't be racist against other oppressed minorities (or non-oppressed majorities).

Yes, but it goes back to what you are raised around. I have raised my kids that everyone is equal no matter what color of there skin. It is a cycle that has to be broke either way.

Sure...anyone can be racist. It's got nothing to do with the color of the skin at all...hatred for no reason can be multicolored!

Anyone can be a racist. Most everyone is prejudice, and a good number of people are just plain stupid. Sometimes people focus so much on worrying about race that they make it an issue that we can never get past.

I am with the majority on this one. Anyone from any walk of life can be racist. It does not matter if you are black or white, rich or poor, anyone, yes anyone has the ability to be racist.

This actually reminds me of something else.. it kind of has to do with race,as far as who they give a hard time, i live in the states and my boyfriend lives in canada, so we cross the border all the time, well on the american side we were stopped for a random inspection, and they would not let me use the bathroom, on american soil. now i was thinking that if they gave me a hard time about using it, i wonder what they do to everyone else who is not american, or whoever tries to get in, it just amazes me because like the post says, racism affects everybody.

Yes, blacks can be just as racist as anyone else. People don't like to admit it but we're all a little racist.

Anyone can be a racist. Although, this racist thing has been blown into much more than it really is in the U.S. Every time someone gets their feelings hurt now, someone gets accused of being a racist. Get Real!
