I Hate Ralph Nader
There's one big reason why Democrats cringe when they hear the name Ralph Nader: They feel he cost Al Gore the presidency in 2000. Running on the Green Party ticket against Gore and George W. Bush, Nader's collection of 2.74 percent of the national vote drew mostly from voters on the left, most of whom, opine Dems, would have voted against Bush—especially in key states like Florida, which as we all remember became a weeks-long soap opera starring Chad, the problematic paper ballot. Nader has spent his life championing consumer rights and the environment, a noble career that has produced noteworthy results. Too bad these are overshadowed by his somewhat souring presidential campaigns. Oh, in case you're wondering, he's running again in 2008.
