I Hate Lou Dobbs
You know you're cringe-worthy when Geraldo Rivera calls you out. No chairs were thrown, but in mid-May the veteran commentator accused fellow TV personality Lou Dobbs, anchor of CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight," of "resuscitating a failed career as a business journalist on the back of this most vulnerable population." By "vulnerable population" Rivera meant illegal immigrants (specifically Latinos), an issue the outspoken Dobbs has adopted with fervor. Rivera is merely the latest to pile on Dobbs. "60 Minutes," "The New York Times," as well as countless blogs and watchdog groups have documented instances of suspect fact-checking on Dobbs' part as well as, in the opinion of some, subtle shades of racism. Yet for his strong stances, Dobbs became the object of a grassroots effort to lure him into the 2008 presidential race as an independent. Lucky for those who can't stand him, Dobbs doesn't consider himself a politician.
