FROM BARACK OBAMA'S WEBSITE AND NEWSLETTER:
It's not every day that a union hall full of volunteers bursts into song, but that's exactly what just happened in the campaign's Concord, New Hampshire staging area. Taking music from the classic "Twist and Shout," a group of about 30 volunteers from across New Hampshire and Massachusetts sang that they were here to "Get the vote out" for Barack, and then immediately filed into cars to go canvassing.
Joel, the group's leader, got the idea from his annual Christmas caroling.
I run a Christmas caroling mob around the holidays and we decided that it would be good to apply the same paradigm here, to get people out singing.
The staging area is usually the home of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 490, and unions have been heavily involved in the Concord effort. Gary, President of the Service Employees International Union and a former sergeant with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, sees a difference between now and what happened four years ago.
There is a big difference, in the number of people actively involved, the energy and the enthusiasm around that involvement, it's incredible, it's awesome to see it and be a part of it. It feels like a wave of change, it's not just the every day put in the paces, this actually has some substance and some depth to it, it's great.
The Concord staging area is one of many spread out across the state, all with turf that needs to be covered in the next two days. With so little time left until the election,
volunteers are needed to canvass around the country. Can you sign up to help out with our critical
