If you’re a Canadian citizen that’s purchased a car lately, you may have been told about the Green Levy on fuel inefficient vehicles. That is, if you purchase a vehicle that is incredibly fuel in-efficient, you will have to pay an additional tax above and beyond the cost of the vehicle. For instance, if you buy a Chevy Trailblazer, you will have to pay an additional $3,000 as a tax to the Canadian government (FYI. Escalade and Hummer drivers only have to pay an additional $2,000). This is an interesting way to help encourage motorists to pick a vehicle that is eco-friendly (in addition to the higher gas prices).
