The German ´baldwald´- project (´baldwald´ means ´soon-wood´) is a private initiative. It advertises, mediates and accompanies sponsorships for the planting of new woods. The project also reforests land in Germany and is the portal for all who want to support the establishment of new woods.

With a sponsorship for the trees, children and adults can accompany the growth and take care of the whole wood. They can visit the area, mark and measure the trees and take photos of them. They can do everything that supports the grows and well-being of the wood. So the wood becomes a new vacation spot and an event for the godfathers and goddmothers.

With a single payment they support the care of the first and decisive years of the wood. For service in return the godfathers receive access, adventure and participation to an exciting project of local ecology. In addition they get a certificate and the yearly newsletter informing about the wood. A sponsorship is a popular present in Germany with a long-term effect.
In the first reforestation activity in north Germany in 2006 nearly 7.000 trees (special types of oaks, lime trees, beeches, maples,..) were planted. At present ( February 2007) there are over 400 sponsoreship trees.

Sounds like a good initiative....but its in germany and I am here in the good ol' U S of A . How bout finding a way to help the green cause here in our homeland. Sponsor or plant some trees here, start recycling, or composting. there are so many ways to be part of the solution. So don't be a REATARD, do your part.
