I Hate Chriis Matthews
Fawning over a speech given by Barack Obama on Super Tuesday 2008, Matthews, anchor of MSNBC's "Hardball," confessed to a somewhat stricken Keith Olbermann on live television that, "I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often." Say what? Let's hear it again: "I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often." Thrill-deficiencies aside, frequent viewers (and critics) of Matthews note that he's prone to corny, cringe-worthy phrases, sometimes with surprisingly sexist overtones. Like calling Hillary Clinton the "she devil" or stating that "the reason [Clinton] is a candidate for president is because her husband slept around." One poster on a prominent news blog compared Matthews and his gushing style of broadcast commentary to "a silly little child reveling in joy over an ice cream cone." Matthews may play hardball, but inside he's a softy with a loose tongue.
