If you've ever folded up one of these, well, it takes a bit of effort. Unless she happened to own a folding couch retrofitted with hydraulic rams from a commercial trash compactor, the idea that simply flipping a lever and mashing him to death instantly, is too appealing to be such an isolated event.
And considering the shoddy build of much of what's produced in Russia, it's kind of ludicrous.
My guess, is she deliberately folded him up in it, with considerable effort, and his head happened to be adjacent to a metal crossbrace. When she packed him in, (most likely sitting on the sofa to squeeze it together) it cracked his skull.
Still, he must've been a skinny little bugger, and needed killin' bad.
