LONDON, April 15 (UPI) - A London court has fined a man $555,000 after his house nearly collapsed due to tunnels he dug beneath the foundation over the course of 40 years.William Lyttle, 77, was ordered to pay Hackney council for repairs to his home, a neighbor's home and nearby pavement plus $20,000 in legal costs after the tunnels he excavated under his house nearly caused the structure to collapse, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.Lyttle, who was evicted from his home in 2006 so the repairs could go forward, kept cars, boats and other large items in the tunnels. The court also issued him an injunction to prevent him from undoing any of the council's repair work.
